These days, you enter a Venetian house from the campo. Artisans, however bring along their tools through the porta d’acqua, as it’s faster transporting their tools by boat. So when the ground floor of the house was restored and insulated in summer 2014,

My grandmother wants me to write a little book about what life in a Venetian palazzo is really like, and we took many pictures of maintenance works to raise the ground floor, in autumn 2014. You take two flights of stairs to reach the living room and kitchen.

This house was restored 10 years ago, and until then housed a really old Venetian kitchen. Must have been more than 100 years old. Our grandparents kept much of this white and dark wooden furniture but had to replace the oven and other kitchen utensils.
