Laguna in Cucina
There’s a forgotten island in the secret northern Lagoon, overgrown with elderflowers and acacia. Herons and sea gulls nest in the wilderness, once a lush monastery garden. This island is called Madonna del Monte, located off San Francesco del Deserto and Sant’ Erasmo. All this is the background to Nonna’s recipes, first published in 1988, using ingredients from the Lagoon and estuary.
These are the recipes of a life spent in the Lagoon, a collection that begins in the 1880s: Personal favorites, and festive Venetian dishes, such as the marzipan-blackberry summer tart or the manna-apple-Christmas cake. All recipes use natural ingredients, fruit and herbs of the Lagoon. We chose recipes that are easy to make, so you can taste Lina’s Venetian flavors at home! From summer 2022.
